Melissa’s Summer Holiday Survival Kit

This Summer, entertaining should be simple and delicious. Whether it’s breakfast before the beach, lunch for loads of people or a quick family supper, my favorite products make this possible.

From marinading meat, to dressing salads or filling wraps and sandwiches, Melissa’s products make simple food great and easy to make – Leaving more time to spend having fun with family and friends this summer.

ENTERTAINING ESSENTIALS – Melissa’s must-have items this summer!

KASUNDI – Nachos

Top a bag of Mexican nachos
with a diced cooked Chicken Breast
(optional), chopped red onion, red
pepper and grated white cheddar.
Grill. Remove from grill and top with
sour cream, guacamole (mashed avo,
lemon juice, salt and pepper to taste)
and Kasundi.

KASUNDI – Quesadillas

Spread a flour wrap with Melissa’s Kasundi. Cover with chopped red onion, red pepper, diced cooked chicken breast (optional), Melissa’s Jalapenos and grated cheddar. Top with second wrap and heat in a pan until crispy on both sides. Serve with guacamole and Kasundi.

Use it to spice up chicken burgers.
Spread on a ham and cheese sandwich
and serve with fresh rocket.
Mix with our Olive Oil and baste over
chicken kebabs.

 

BACON JAM

Dollop over fluffy scrambled eggs or eat with freshly mashed avo on toasted sourdough bread.

MAKE YOUR OWN MARINADE

Pour Melissa’s vinaigrette over a whole
chicken. Marinade for 24 hours in the fridge. Roast in a pre-heated oven at 180 degrees for approx 1 hour until juices run clear. Also delicious over a green salad or any rice salad.

CHILLI & CINGER MARINADE

Mix equal parts Melissa’s Chilli and
Ginger Jam, Melissa’s Peach Chutney and
tomato sauce with 1 tbsp Worcester sauce.
Mix and use to marinade meat or chicken
pieces. Grill or braai.

RUBS: Mix with olive oil to form a past. use to coat meat, fish or chicken.

THE VERY BEST SALAD DRESSING

Mix 3 parts Melissa’s Extra virgin Olive Oil, 1 part
Melissa’s Sweet Raspberry Vinegar, 1 clove crushed
garlic, 3 tbsp Melissa’s Raw Honey, 1 tsp wholegrain
mustard and a pinch of salt and pepper.

STOCK UP THE PANTRY

Serve with Shweshwe real ice cream from Melissa’s
Eat for breakfast with Greek yoghurt and muesli.
Make chicken kebabs with skewered peaches.

Serve on juicy boerewors rolls with a handful of fresh rocket.
Spread on a ham sandwich.
Spread on crispy bruschetta and top with creamy camembert.

Serve in a large glass jug with lots of ice.
Make refreshing summer cocktails by mixing with vodka and adding crushed ice.
